Angeles Crest Scenic Byway (Route 2)
Wrightwood, CA
Wrightwood, only 15 miles off of Interstate 15, is a quiet mountain
resort town. The town has numerous lodging facilities, quaint
boutiques, and fine restaurants. The seasons affect Wrightwood more
than its giant neighbor to the south west. The summer months allow
for great camping, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. The winter, on
the other hand, brings with it enough snow for all sorts of winter
activities. Wrightwood is popular for its first class skiing, some
of the finest in Southern California. Whatever the season,
Wrightwood is synonymous with "plain old fun!"
The area where Wrightwood is found was originally inhabited by the
Serrano Indians. Later, the area became a cattle ranch, followed by
a major apple orchard, and finally, the mountain resort town that
it is today. Some of Wrightwood's past can be seen in a few
historical buildings that still stand, and that are still used.
