There is a cafe and bar about midway along the byway, roughly 33 miles west of Wrightwood on the route.

There are no filling stations along the actual byway. However, gas is available in La Canada-Flintridge or Wrightwood.

Special Considerations

The Angeles Highway is a two lane road that is steep at times and slow to travel. Driving times may vary depending on road conditions and speed traveled. Additionally, the road has many switchbacks, with steep dropoffs and narrow shoulders.

Heavy Traffic Times

The scenic highway has proved most inviting to motorcyclists. The weekends especially find the road packed with sports bike enthusiasts. It is advisable to travel the highway during the week to avoid high traffic.

Falling Rock

Watch for loose rock in the road. Falling rock is common along the route, and is especially dangerous when they land along the highway's blind curves.

Restrictions

The crest is usually closed in the winter due to snowfall.

Seasons

Best Time to Drive

Springtime is famous for fields of California poppies and other wildflowers. Summer has spectacular views.

High Season

Summer and early Fall are the busiest times. The highway is extrememly popular with motorcyle enthusiasts on the weekends.
