Coal Heritage Trail
Bramwell, WV
The town of Bramwell was settled in 1885 by a man by the name of J.H. Bramwell. He was a New York civil engineer who made his fortune in real estate and established an opulent lifestyle in Bramwell. Apparently he was a trendsetter because many other millionaires moved into the area shortly thereafter. By the late 1800's, Bramwell had the largest number of millionaires per capita of any town in the United States. Now visitors can tour this historic town and many of the homes of the old Coal Barons to see the many buildings of richer days gone by.
