Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, WV

Get a feel for the coal mining experience at this hands-on museum while you tour the underground mines, peruse visitor center displays, wander the fudgery and gift shop, and explore the historical coal camp. Visitor center exhibits are devoted to the Coal Heritage Trail byway and depictions of life in a coal camp community. Adding to the authentic experience, the center is designed to resemble a coal camp company store. The historic coal camp includes a restored Coal Company House, Superintendent's Home, Pemberton Coal Camp Church, and a Helen Coal Camp School. Of course, it's the epic underground mine tours that make this site particularly popular and educational.
