Kaibab Plateau-North Rim Parkway
North Rim Lodge, AZ

The beautiful limestone rock work of the lodge seems to blend its massive form into its natural surroundings, the canyon adding to its mass as it stands as a reclusive castle in the National Park. A certain mystique developed around the North Rim Lodge during its creation that still exists today, one of inaccessibility. During the winter, the north rim is often closed due to the heavy snow storms that block the winding roads leading to the grand lodge.

The less-crowded North Rim Lodge is sister to the heavily toured Grand Canyon Lodge on the south rim. The main lodge sits directly on the north rim next to Bright Angel Point. The lodge offers an encompassing view of the canyon and Bright Angel Point. Large picture windows from the lounge face the south and west, giving visitors a dazzling color show in the evening as the sun dances across the red canyon cliffs.
