History buffs will be especially appreciative of a visit to Pomeroy. Museums, historical societies, geneological societies, and historical buildings and sites grace this community in Meigs county. The courthouse in Pomeroy is especially noteworthy. Although the structure is composed of three stories, each story offers a ground level entrance, which gave it mention in Ripley's Believe It or Not.

While in the area, view a monument to a Civil War battle, climb a prehistoric Indian mound, or participate in a Civil War re-enactment.
