Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area, NE

Lake McConaughy State Recreation is Nebraska's largest reservoir, earning the nickname "Big Mac." With nearly 36,000 acres of water and 5,500 acres of land, this recreation area has many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. There is both modern and primitive camping, boating, surfing, water-skiing, swimming, and fishing. The walleye is the most prized of the fish that can be caught at Lake McConaughy, along with other game fish such as rainbow trout and channel catfish. There are miles of white sandy beaches for visitors to enjoy a relaxing day.
