Western Trails Scenic and Historic Byway
Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area, NE
Lake Ogallala was created at the same time as Lake McConaughy. This lake is smaller, with 320 acres, with fishing and paddling as the primary activities. There is no true beach along the 5-mile shoreline, and swimming can be a very cold activity. However, there is a modern campground that visitors can enjoy. Ice fishing is available during the winter months, and wildlife/eagle viewing is also available at the lake.
