Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway
Whitefish Chain of Lakes, MN
The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway nearly surrounds the Whitefish Chain of Lakes, a series of fourteen lakes of verious sizes, with 15,000 total acres of water. The lakes play a significant role in Byway recreation year-round, with boating and swimming in the summer followed by snowmobiling, ice skating and snowshoeing in the winter. Fishing is available in all seasons, whether from a boat, in a shanty, or even using specialized "Dark House" spear fishing.
