Red Gulch/Alkali National Back Country Byway
Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site, WY
Located off of Cold Springs Road 6 miles from the intersection of Cold Springs Road and Alkali Road along the western slope of the Big Horn Mountains, Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site is one of this country's major archaeological sites. The digs have been filled in for preservation purposes, but prehistoric petroglyphs and pictographs remain on the red sandstone cliffs as reminders of the past.
