  • Alchesay National Fish Hatchery (AZ)

    This is half of a two-part National Fish Hatchery unit supplying 5 species of trout for Indian waters in UT, AZ, and CO.

    Location:

    5 miles north of Fort Apache on SR 73.

  • Kinishba Ruins (AZ)

    Kinishba Ruins is all that remains of a village built by the ancestral Pueblo Indians approximately 1250 - 1400 AD.

    Distance from byway: 7 mi / 11.3 km
    Directions:

    Take St. Rd. 73 south from White River to Knishba Ruins.

  • "Nohwike' Bagowa" (House of Our Footprints) (AZ)

    The Apache Cultural Center and Museum preserves the tribe's cultural heritage in it's various forms.

    Distance from byway: 6 mi / 9.7 km
    Travel time: 10 minutes
    Directions:

    Reach Fort Apache by traveling State Route 73, from either Pinetop or Carrizo Junction, to its intersection with Indian Route 46, about 5 miles south of Whiteriver. Signs at the intersection guide visitors the 1/2 mile east to the Park.

  • Ft. Apache Historic Park (GA)

    This park has a re-creation of an Apache village with several of the unique buildings at the fort. General Cook's log cabin now houses the gift shop.

    Location:

    Take St. Rt. 73 from either Pinetop or Carrizo Junction to its intersection with Indian Route 46, approximately 5 miles south of White River. Signs at the intersection guide visitors 1/2 mile east to the Park.
