The George Parks Highway Scenic Byway
Hurricane Gulch, AK

The steep-walled gorges of Hurricane Gulch offer spectacular views amidst the backdrop of the Alaska Range. The 550-foot deck of the bridge is 260 feet above Hurricane Creek. This $1.2 million dollar engineering feat was the most expensive and difficult bridge project during construction of the Alaska Railroad. Parking areas are on either side of the bridge; a primitive trail leads hikers down into the gorge.
