The George Parks Highway Scenic Byway
Ester Gold Complex, AK

The eclectic community of Ester celebrates its gold mining roots with music, song, theater, and dance at the Ester Gold Complex, built in 1936 by the Fairbanks Exploration Company. The Malemute Saloon, part of the complex, was the setting for Robert W. Services’ poem entitled, “The Shooting of Dan McGrew."
