Alamance Battleground, NC

Before the Revolutionary War, there were several factions of the local populace that grew discontent with the government that dealt with the colonies' affairs. The Regulators were formed to try and deal with the problems, but without a decisive leader, they were considered more of a mob. They caused several problems and in 1771, William Tryon was ordered to take care of them. The Battle of Alamance ended badly for the Regulators, as the losses were great and the Regulators rebellion crushed.
