Outer Banks Scenic Byway
Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station, NC
At Rodanthe, Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station’s compound connects visitors to a historic district consisting of five houses and outbuildings (ca.1900-1950), a rare small fish house, a harbor, and a village schoolhouse, now a community space. The district shows how villages centered on life-saving stations. First built in 1874, Chicamacomico is the most completely restored life-saving station remaining along North Carolina's barrier islands.
