Driving the Byway

• Begin the drive in the town of Badin on NC 740.
• Turning onto SR 1714 (Nantahala Street), drive for one-tenth of a mile.
• Turn right onto SR 1720 (Henderson Street). The byway officially begins beside the old elementary school on Henderson Street.
• While traveling due south, the road number remains the same, but the name changes to Valley Drive at the intersection just past the elementary school.
• Follow Valley Drive (SR 1720) for 5.5 miles south towards the intersection of NC 24/27/73.
• At the intersection, turn left.
• Take the road (part of the Sandhills Scenic Drive) for about two miles before turning right onto SR 1740 (Indian Mound Road).
• Follow SR 1740 for about 6 miles along Lake Tillery to the town of Norwood.
• The byway ends at US 52 in Norwood.
