The cities of Lucas and Wilson offer all the amenities the traveler needs. The cities offer food, gasoline, lodging, and retail services.

Special Considerations
Kansas Originals Market, the Midland Hotel and the Czech Opera House in Wilson are all handicapped accessible. The Grassroots Art Center in Lucas is handicapped accessible. Wilson Lake has handicapped accessible campsites, trail, parking, showers, boat dock, boat ramp, restrooms, fishing dock and playground.
The Lucas Area Chamber of Commerce will assist in setting up tours of the Post Rock Scenic Byway area. Kansas Originals Market, State Department of Wildlife and Parks and US Army Corp of Engineers will all help set up tours of their facilities.
Restrictions
The entire byway is a paved 24-foot highway width with gravel or grassed shoulders, which wide enough to accommodate any vehicle.
Seasons
- Best Time to Drive
Spring showcases delicate wildflowers. Fall foliage and grasses are vibrant in September-October. Summer includes recreational activities, and winter brings Bald Eagles and ice fisherman.
- High Season
Memorial and Labor Day weekends bring increased recreational traffic around Wilson Lake.
- Spring
Spring explodes with color, a sea of lush buffalo grass decorated with vibrant wildflowers as backdrop for the stately limestone post rock fenceposts.
