Lincoln Highway
DeKalb Memorial Park, IL

The centerpiece of this park is the 1921 "Soldiers and Sailors" Memorial Clock, which was dedicated on February 13, 1921 and was originally located in the Lincoln Highway right-of-way, two blocks east of its present location. Following an accident in 1929, the clock was moved to an adjacent sidewalk; in 1996 it was relocated to Memorial Park and completely restored. In 1999, a community mural highlighting DeKalb's history was painted on the side of the Old Chronicle Building, which is located behind the park and is at the western entrance to DeKalb's downtown. The mural is visible as one travels east on Lincoln Highway.
