Lincoln Highway
Dixon, IL

Dixon, Illinois has several claims to fame including its frontier beginning. Settled in 1830 as Dixons Ferry, the land of Dixon was a haunt for Indians and trappers for many decades before that. The community, its landmarks, and recreational areas developed over the years. When soldiers returned from World War I, they found that an arch had been constructed to welcome them. The Dixon Arch now spans the Lincoln Highway. Dixon was also the boyhood home to President Ronald Reagan.
