As the first place visitors should stop, the center provides an orientation to the history, culture, and activities of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The small museum features displays on volcanic processes, native plants and animals and early Hawaiians. Maps, posters and more are for sale. Backcountry permits are also available here.
