Washington Heritage Trail
Cacapon State Park, WV
The Eastern Panhandle's natural qualities rival its historic qualities, and some of the most spectacular natural features are the mountains. The Cacapon Mountains run north-south through Morgan County, and 6,000 acres of Cacapon Mountain itself are publically owned as Cacapon State Park. Visitors to the park can hike through dense forests and alongside mountain streams, or enjoy a round of golf on the park's 18-hole golf course. Other features of the park include a conference center, lodge, cabins, a family restaurant, a swimming lake, game courts, pavilions and family play areas, as well as naturalist programs and horseback riding.
