Woodward Avenue (M-1) - Automotive Heritage Trail
Ford Field, MI
In 2002, the Detroit Lions return to the city after a 27-year absence to a $300-million football stadium bearing the name of one of Detroit's automobile legends. Located just east of Comerica Park, the stadium includes a fixed roof supported by two 18-foot-wide concrete columns and an artificial turf playing field sunken 45 feet below street level. A multi-story glass entrance will provide fans with a unique view of downtown Detroit. The venue incorporates a former six-story warehouse with luxury suites, offices, press box, banquet facilities, food areas and retail establishments.
