Acadia All American Road
Northeast Harbor, ME
Northeast Harbor is famous for its summertime residents. It is located at the southern end of Mount Desert Island at the entrance to Somes Sound -- the only fjord on the East coast of the United States. Northeast Harbor is often referred to as the "quiet side" and has a feeling of understated class. Its harbor is full of exclusive yachts and sailing vessels.
Some excellent places to visit while in Northeast Harbor are the Asticou and Thuva Gardens. Asticou Azalea Garden is spectacular during the spring bloom - a lovely haven for quiet reflection. Thuva Garden is an enchanted setting of sculpted shrubbery and perennial borders. Both gardens have a slight eastern ambiance.
