The first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park has been dedicated to preserving the natural Maine landscape since 1919.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: A small section of the Acadia National Park is on the southern-most end of the Byway.

A pleasurable scenic turnout on the shore of Acadia National Park, Blueberry Hill offers a chance to walk on the shore, have picnics, and take pictures.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: After leaving Schoodic Point, bear right and follow the one-way road again-until you reach mile 21.4, about one mile beyond Schoodic Point.

Sometimes called Maine's ugliest lighthouse, the tower is built right on the roof of the lightkeeper's house.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: Egg Rock Light is built on a mass of ledges roughly halfway between Schoodic Point and Mount Desert Island.

Frazer Point is the first turnout on Schoodic Peninsula and provides breathtaking views into Winter Harbor and associated islands.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: The park boundary is marked by a sign just before you reach Mosquito Harbor Bridge. Beyond the bridge is Frazer Point Picnic Area. It's 2 miles off the byway.

Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Complex (ME)
Two islands in Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge feature lighthouses, Egg Rock and Petit Manan Island, both of which are scenic highlights along the Maine Coast. Boat tours to see the seabird nesting colonies on Petit Manan are available.
Location: Spans over 250 miles of Maine Coastline from the Cross Island NWR on the north end to the Pond Island NWR on the south end

Petit Manan Light is Maine's second-tallest lighthouse, standing at 123 feet.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: It's 5 miles southeast of the midpoint of SR 195.

Prospect Harbor Light is directly across the harbor as you drive through Prospect Harbor village.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: It's a half a mile east of the lower quarter of SR 195.

The area offers incredible views of Frenchman Bay, including its many islands and Egg Rock.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: Schoodic Head (a small mountain at the tip of Schoodic Peninsula)is accessed by a narrow gravel road (approximately mile 21) on the Acadia National Park (ANP) Schoodic Peninsula Road.

Vernacular architecture set around a central common with outstanding views of Mount Desert Island and Frenchman Bay.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: It's just a couple miles southeast (on SR 1) from the start of the byway.

Winter Harbor Light, built in 1856, claims the distinction of being the byway's most photogenic lighthouse.
Location: Located on Mark Island, just west of Winter Harbor
