Phoenix Church, MI
Built in 1858, this historic building was originally named St. Mary's Church and provided spiritual guidance to the residents of Cliff, one of the earliest mining communities in the area. In 1899 the church was dismantled, reassembled in the city of Phoenix, and renamed The Church of the Assumption. Services continued to be held until 1957.
Bought by the Keweenaw Historical Society in 1985, the church has been repaired and restored to its historic beauty. Though now deconsecrated, the church is still available for weddings and memorial services.
