Logan Canyon Scenic Byway
Beaver Junction, UT

This marks the turn-off to Beaver Mountain Ski Resort and snowmobile parking. The Beaver Creek Basin provides a snowy playground for many winter sports enthusiasts who flock to its groomed trails and inviting slopes. In the spring and summer, this area is popular for hiking and biking. Access to Logan Canyon's section of the Great Western Trail is also found in this area. This trail stretches from the Canadian to the Mexican borders.

The largest disaster to occur in Logan Canyon took place in a small, forested hollow eight miles up Beaver Canyon. On January 6, 1953, thirty-seven servicemen and three crew members were killed when a chartered C-47 airplane iced up and crashed. The plane was enroute from Seattle to Fort Jackson, SC. The servicemen, all veterans of the Korean War, were returning to their homes in the South. A memorial was placed at the site of the crash on Sept. 23, 1967.
