Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge (CO)
The 12,150-acre Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Refuge is one of over 540 refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System � a network of lands set aside specifically for wildlife. The Refuge System is a living heritage, conserving wildlife and habitat for people today and generations to come.
Location: Located about 25 miles east of Flaming-Gorge Uintas Scenic Byway, just over the Colorado border.

There are an abundance of recreational opportunities awaiting the visitor to the Ashley National Forest-Duchesne Ranger Station.

Dinosaur National Monument (UT)
See a 160-foot-long wall with over 1600 dinosaur bones at this, the home of the world's largest Jurassic period dinosaur quarry. Displays of fossils, archaeology, and dinosaur history can be seen.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: Go east on Highway 40 to Jensen and then north on Highway 149 to the monument.

Rising 502 feet above bedrock, this dam impounds the waters of the Green River to form Flaming Gorge Reservoir, which extends as far as 91 miles to the north and has a capacity of nearly 4 million acre-feet of water.

Flaming Gorge Dam Visitor Center (UT)
Videos, displays, interpretive literature, and self-guided tours are available at this center. Interpretive Services personnel will be glad to answer questions or provide directions.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area (UT)
Flaming Gorge County means a wide range of year-round recreation, breath-taking scenery, abundant wildlife, and classic frontier history.
Location: North of Vernal, encompassing the Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Utah and Wyoming

The Green River is a superb outdoor recreation area managed by the USDA Forest Service. Fishing, boating, and hiking opportunities abound.
Location: The Green River flows out of the Flaming Gorge Dam and east into Colorado.

Old Timers tell of an old man running off the road in his Model T, riding it to the bottom of this deep canyon, and walking out unharmed. The remains of the car are still there.
Location: North of Steinaker State Park and south of Red Fleet State Park, on the east side of the Byway; 18 miles north of Vernal.

Ouray National Wildlife Refuge (UT)
This wildlife refuge is a haven for many migrating birds, ducks, and other land animals, and fish.
Location: South of Vernal on Highway 88.
