Nephi Museum, UT

Salt Creek Fort, dating from 1850 is partly preserved in the Nephi Museum. The original fort, built of gravel, mud and straw, enclosed nine blocks with 12-foot walls. There are many examples of 19th Century architecture, log cabins and adobe, frame, brick and stone structures. There is a replica and pictures of the fort in the Nephi Museum. There are two of the corner stones in the city museum. The old county jail is also at the museum. Built in 1892 and used until 1974, the museum is the old county courthouse and so the jail was built right behind it. There are room displays of early pioneer homes.
