Special Considerations

The altitude is high and the roads are slightly winding. Drive with caution to avoid hitting deer, which are common in the area.

Fish Lake Lodge and the Bowery Haven Resort are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Lakeside Resort is open all week from Memorial Day to Labor Day and only weekends after Labor Day until the third week in October, when it closes for the winter.

Gas is available at the Lakeside Resort during the week, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The resort has been known to run out of gas on busy summer weekends, so it is better to gas up in one of the nearby towns such as Loa or Richfield.

Banks and medical facilities are available in Richfield and Loa.

Restrictions

Be aware of deer and other wildlife crossing the road. The road is only plowed in winter to Bowery Haven Resort. Call ahead to see if road is open after large winter storms: (435) 836-2811.

Seasons

Best Time to Drive

The fall is beautiful when the aspen stands are ablaze with fiery color. The Aspen Heart summer home area is named for a clone of aspen that turns red while the surrounding trees turn yellow. Summer temperatures rarely get above the low 80s.

High Season
