Fishlake Scenic Byway (U-25)

Doctor Creek:
This campground is the first along the road. It is shaded with aspens, and is some distance from the lake. It has one loop on gently sloping ground. Of its 30 sites, #5 is handicap accessible and #1 and #2 are used by the campground hosts. Handicap-accessible restrooms are nearest #6 and #8. Drinking water is available about every four sites. There are two group pads in a separate area, with restrooms and drinking water. An RV dump is near the entrance, as are garbage containers. Sites 5, 11, 16, 17, and 24-27 are reservable.
Mackinaw:
This large campground on the left (non-lake) side of the road consists of three shaded loops, and is some distance from the lake. Of its 67 sites, #13 and #14 are handicap-accessible, and #1, #22, and #59 are used by the campground hosts. Of the 6 restrooms, the handicap-accessible ones are nearest #13 and #14, as are showers. Drinking water is available about every four sites. There
are no group pads and no RV dump; however, #25-28, 31, 32, and 46 are listed as "multiple sites." Sites 4, 5, 8-10, 25-28, 30, 35,40-42, 45-47, 52-54 and 56-58 are reservable.
Bowery Creek:
This campground on the left (non-lake) side of the road
consists of two shaded loops and a day-use picnic area with a
playground and restrooms. It is some distance from the lake. Of its
43 sites, none are handicap-accessible, and #19 is used by the
campground hosts. Of the 4 restrooms, none are specifically marked
as handicap-accessible. Drinking water is available about every
four sites. There are three group pads (#8, #14, and #23) but no RV
dump. #30-40, and 43 are listed as "multiple sites." Sites 8-11,
14-16, 23, 25-28, 35, 36 and 42 are reservable.
Frying Pan:
This small campground on the left (non-lake) side of the road
consists of two spurs. It is some distance from the reservoir. Of
its 11 sites, none are handicap-accessible. There is no on-site
host. The restroom is not specifically marked as
handicap-accessible. Drinking water is available about every two
sites. There is one walk-in group area with parking, but no nearby
restroom or RV dump. Sites 2, 3, and 6-8 are reservable.
The campgrounds at Fish Lake are managed by High Country
Recreation. For questions or problems at Fish Lake during the

There are several private resorts along the route, including Lakeside, Fishlake, and Bowery Haven. They offer RV services and rent cabins.
