This agricultural and mining community nestled in the colorful southern Utah desert is home to just a few hundred people, yet it serves as the gateway to some of the most remote wilderness areas in Utah.

Hanksville is at the beginning of the Byway, at the junction of Highways 24 and 95. It is 44 miles south of I-70, on Highway 24, and about 25 miles east of Capitol Reef National Park.
