Anasazi State Park Museum (UT)
Visitors to this park will go back in time to 1050 A.D. when the Fremont and Kayenta Anasazi occupied the area. It was one of the largest Anasazi communities west of the Colorado River.
Location: Located at 460 N Highway 12, in Boulder.

Isolated by its formidably hazardous surroundings, Boulder was the last town in the U.S. to receive mail by mule. It is now the center for summer activities and is famous for the Anasazi Indian Village State Park and the Burr Trail.
Location: Located on Scenic Byway 12, 27 miles northeast of Escalante and 39 miles south of Torrey.

9,760 feet above sea level, Boulder Mountain sits on the Aquarius Plateau, the highest timbered plateau in North America. Breathtaking vistas can be seen from several pullouts, and fishing, hiking, camping options abound.
Location: Located in the heart of the Dixie National Forest, perpendicular to Scenic Byway 12, it lies between cities Grover and Boulder.

This is a terrific place to view the lay of the land around the town of Boulder. There is an interpretive panel that outlines the history of Boulder's settlement.
Location: Located 12.5 miles east of the Calf Creek Recreation Area on Scenic Byway 12.

Box Death Hollow Wilderness Area (UT)
This wilderness area is a maze of secret canyons and narrow washes.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: Go north out of Escalante on the Posey Lake Road.

Travelers may take a break from the curving, climbing road to view the twisted, rounded canyons below where outlaws once hid out in the Old West.
Location: Located on Scenic Byway 12, above Calf Creek, between Escalante and Boulder, Utah.

The airport is located at the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park and houses structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Distance from byway: On the byway Directions: Turn south off of Scenic Byway 12 onto Highway 63 which leads to Bryce Canyon National Park. The airport is near the turnoff in the city of Bryce.

Bryce Canyon National Park (UT)
Magnificent salmon, pink, and red colored pinnacles and spires make Bryce Canyon unique in Utah's red rock country.
Distance from byway: 3 mi / 4.8 km Travel time: 3 minutes Directions: From Highway 89: Turn east on Scenic Byway 12 (7 miles south of Panguitch) and travel to the junction of Scenic Byway 12 and State Route 63. Turn south (right) onto State Route 63 and travel 3 miles to reach the park entrance. From the east: Travel west on Scenic Byway 12 to the intersection with State Route 63. Turn south (left) to reach the park entrance.

This route crosses some of the most stunning wilderness in the southwest. Visitors may envision being on a cattle drive in the Old West as they retrace the path of rancher John Atlantic Burr, for whom the trail was named.
Location: The road from Boulder to Bullfrog. Access the road, on the left, a few miles north of Bullfrog, leaving Lake Powell, or follow the road southeast out of Boulder.

Calf Creek Recreation Area (UT)
This BLM facility is a perfect place to wade in the creek, have a picnic, or take the 5.5-mile round-trip nature hike to 126-foot high Lower Calf Creek Falls.
Location: Located on Scenic Byway 12 between Boulder and Escalante.
