Scenic Byway 12
Hole-in-the-Rock Road, UT

The Hole-in-the-Rock Road is a Utah State Scenic Backway that follows the route of a Mormon pioneer group who made an arduous trek to southeastern Utah across the Colorado River. The Hole-in-the-Rock site is where, in 1880, Mormon settlers cut a passage and lowered their wagons over the 1200-foot cliff to the canyon floor and the Colorado River.

The road now lies in the Grand Staircase- Escalante National Monument and leads to slot canyons. Discover fascinating geologic features such as Devil's Garden and the Hole-in-the-Rock Gorge above Lake Powell.
