Pioneer Historic Byway
Hooper Springs, ID
Hooper Spring, the most famous of the area's springs, is a large sweet tasting, naturally carbonated cold water spring. Well known to the mountain men, who dubbed them "Beer Springs" for their effervescent quality. They echo the legend and lore of the Oregon Trail, with numerous diary entries about the site. The Spring is now enclosed. Hooper Springs Park has a covered pavilion, shade trees, restrooms, picnic tables, and a playground. As before, it is a quiet travel reprieve.
