Designed by Maya Lin, who also designed the Vietnam Memorial, the Civil Rights Memorial honors the martyrs of the Civil Rights Movement through a stunning black granite outdoor exhibit, accessible all day, all year.

The plaza is a contemplative area -- a place to remember the Civil Rights Movement and its impact, to honor those killed as a result of the struggle, to appreciate how far America has come in its quest for equality, and to consider how far it has to go.
