Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway
Badlands Overlook, WY
As you continue along the route, a dramatic change in the landscape unfolds. The Badlands are formed from colored mudstones, sandstones, and conglomerates, which have eroded to form a red-and-white banded landscape, unique to this area. Approximately 3.5 miles west of Dubois, there is a scenic overlook, which offers panoramic views of this badlands topography. As you leave the Badlands, and enter the Dunoir Valley, you pass into a gentle landscape with abundant waterfowl and wildlife. Multicolored hills are dissected by the Wind River.
