Special Considerations
Elevations on the byway range from 8,100 to 10,847 feet.
Large snowbanks next to the byway persist through the summer. Expect cooler temperatures.
From the city of Laramie to the top of Snowy Range is 40 miles and takes one hour to drive. From Laramie to Saratoga is 72 miles and takes about two hours to drive. By continuing north through Saratoga to I-80 at Walcott, travelers can loop back to Laramie. Or, take the southern route to Laramie on Highway 230 past Encampment, Foxpark, and Woods Landing.
Restrictions
The byway is open Memorial Day through October, dependent upon weather conditions.

Moderate weather during summer months makes driving the byway ideal from June through August.
