Coronado Trail Scenic Byway
Springerville & Eagar, AZ

The sister towns of Eagar and Springerville are located in the 6800-foot-high Round Valley and form the northern gateway for the Coronado Trail. Founded in 1868 and 1870, they formed the east-west crossroads of Arizona and New Mexico and were a stop on North America's first transcontinental highway. Along with hiking, camping, and fishing at nearby Becker, Lyman, and Mexican Hay Lakes, visitors are attracted to the Pre-Columbian ruins at the Casa Malpais Pueblo. Locally there are two pioneer-era museums.
