The roadway travels through the Fort Apache Indidan Reservation and the heart of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Winter travel. Many byways are not plowed in the winter. Check with the National Forest where you will be traveling for road conditions. Even byways that are not plowed often provide excellent winter opportunities on snow mobiles or cross country skis.
