Cascade Loop
Jetty Island, WA

This man-made island (built in 1895) was originally meant to hold back the saltwater from a proposed fresh-water harbor. The 2-mile long jetty (just a quarter mile off the Everett waterfront) is an island park with tall grasses and warm water sandy beaches.

It provides a perfect habitat for waterfowl, many of which use the jetty for their nesting site. Ongoing efforts encourage a number of other species, including the endangered Arctic Gull, to nest here as well.

Throughout the summer months, park rangers conduct interpretive programs and nature walks for all ages to help explore this environmental wonder.
