Misión Museum y Convento, NM

The Misión Museum y Convento is a faithful econstruction of the original church complex built in 1598 by Don Juan de Oñate and his colonists at San Gabriel del Yunque near San Juan Pueblo. The rooms surrounding the courtyard served as the colonial capital of Nuevo Mexico. The Misión Museum y Convento are a focal point for community events and festivals. The Museum tells the history of the España Valley through a series of paintings in an altar screen format.
