Churches and cathedrals, brewing companies, and scenic routes are available at many of the cities this byway traverses.
For outdoor sports, the byway's many parks and campgrounds offer fishing, hunting, picnicking, tennis, and boating facilities. In addition, one can find a myriad of boat tours, excursions, pirogue rentals, and indoor recreation facilities. There is also a water amusement park (Waterland USA in Houma) that features five water slides, a wave pool, child and adult activity pools, a large game room, batting cages and a mini-golf course.
