Louisiana Scenic Bayou Byway
Bicycle/Pedestrian Facilities
St. Tammany Parish has many parks, including two state parks, Fontainebleau and Fairview. Outdoorsmen can experience nature from trails that are found throughout Fontainebleau State Park and the Pearl River Wildlife Management Area.
The Tammany Trace, a rails-to-trails conversion, lies on the bed of the abandoned Illinois Central Railroad and extends 31 miles from Slidell, through Lacombe and Mandeville, to Abita Springs, then Covington. The trace is open and available for hiking, bicycling, jogging and horseback riding.
There are also scenic bike trails through the pine woods and hills of northern Tangipahoa Parish. For detailed information about their location, contact End of Lane, Inc. Mountain Biking at 504-229-4100 or visit them at 69407 Travis Lane, in Kentwood, Louisiana.
