Surrounded by the majestic San Juan Mountains, Mancos State Park in Colorado boasts great fishing and good camp spots. The location is near Mesa Verde National Park and also the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores. The park offers the refreshing scent of Ponderosa pine and the opportunity to relax. At 7,800 feet, Mancos Lake is considered an alpine lake. Nestled in the beautiful Mancos Valley, this agricultural community was home to the famous Weatherill family who discovered the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings. The Dominguez-Escalante Memorial Highway (State Highway 184) intersects the Skyway and retraces portions of that historic trek.
