Cache La Poudre-North Park Scenic and Historic Byway
State Forest State Park, CO
State Forest State Park is a rugged setting where visitors can enjoy the pristine Colorado wilderness. There are numerous campgrounds and many opportunities to enjoy the recreational qualities of the byway. Hunting, fishing, and hiking are all popular activities within the park. The Medicine Bow Range rises to the east of the park, and the East Sand Dunes Natural Area is a unique area that houses an undisturbed, cold-climate dune. The climate of the area is typical of that found in Rocky Mountain valleys. There is a lot of sunshine, low relative humidity, and wide daily and seasonal temperature variations. The abundant ponderosa pines are home to a variety of wildlife, including, moose, bighorn sheep, coyotes, beavers, foxes, porcupines, and birds.
