Colorado River Headwaters Byway
Lake Granby and Colorado-Big Thompson Water Project, CO
Lake Granby is a part of the Colorado-Big Thompson (C-BT) Project, a mammoth New Deal water project developed to benefit not only the state's agri-business, but its other local economies as well. In order to assure an adequate supply of water in Grand Lake, a dam was built to create Lake Granby. Water from the lake is pumped from Farr Pumping Plant uphill to Grand Lake. The water from this lake helps provide an additional 700,000 of irrigated land to northeastern Colorado.
