Battle Mountain Interpretive Site, CO

The fabulous mines of Battle Mountain produced the lion's share of the Cripple Creek Mining District's wealth. The interpretive site provides an excellent view of the Independence and Portland, two of the most famous mines. The site was designed to allow visitors to get up close to historic mining equipment. A sheave wheel, head-frame timbers, and ore cars are accessible to visitors.
