Guanella Pass Road
Georgetown, CO

Back in 1859, Georgetown found its way onto the map as a mining camp. Gold and silver brought over 5,000 residents in the 1880s. The town grew and many of the Victorian homes and structures that remain today were built during this time. Georgetown has a National Historic Landmark District and the Bowman-White House and the Hamill House Museum give visitors a chance to glimpse into the past by providing tours. The Georgetown Energy Museum is a museum which interprets the early equipment and operations used to generate hydroelectric power in the area. And these sites are only the beginning of the discoveries that can be made in the area.

The Georgetown Loop Railroad takes visitors on a narrow gauge steam train through Clear Creek County and over Devil's Gate Bridge. Walking tours of the Lebanon Silver Mine are available while on this loop. Outdoor recreational opportunities abound as well. Mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and four-wheeling are only the beginning of adventure. Three of Clear Creek County's 14,000-foot peaks are located just outside of Georgetown, giving you the chance to enjoy the splendor of the Rocky Mountains.
