  • Baca National Wildlife Refuge (CO)

    Baca NWR will consist of approximately 92,500 acres of wetlands, sagebrush, and reparian lands. Baca is located in some of the most historic regions in Colorado.

  • Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve

    Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve (CO)

    Nestled in southern Colorado, North America's tallest dunes rise over 750 feet high against the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

    Location:

    Located just west of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, in Rio Grande National Forest.

  • Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge (CO)

    Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge was established by the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission in 1953 to provide a much needed habitat for wildlife, particularly waterfowl, in the San Luis Valley.

  • Rio Grande National Forest (CO)

    The Forest altitude ranges from 7600-foot alpine desert to over 14,300-feet in the majestic Sangre de Cristo Wilderness. It embraces the San Luis Valley, the largest agricultural alpine valley in the world. It is also the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

  • Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge (CO)

    Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1962 as a haven for migratory birds and other wildlife.

  • Carson National Forest (NM)

    Some of the finest mountain scenery in the Southwest is found in the Carson National Forest. Elevations rise from 6,000 feet to 13,161 feet at Wheeler Peak, the highest in New Mexico.
