Special Considerations
Road access to Squaw Ridge Wilderness Study Area is excellent via County Road 5-12B. which forms the south boundary of the Wilderness Study Area.
Derrick Cave: Road access is north from the Ft. Rock Guard Station on dirt and gravel BLM roads, and can be washboardy at times. Visitors in low-clearance passenger cars will need to park at the edge of the BLM road and walk the short, 300-yard trail to the cave.
Please do not disturb the lookout if fire operations are in progress.
Restrictions
Vehicles are still allowed in these Wilderness Study Areas, but only on existing ways and trails. Cross-country vehicle use or making new trails is prohibited.
